Curious about Professional Somatic Life Coaching?

Life coaching is like having a personal trainer or sports coach.

The difference is that professional life coaching helps you improve your mind, emotions, body, and/or spirit. Coaching helps you improve specific areas of your life and reach particular goals.

What is Somatic Life Coaching?

Somatic refers to the body. You have the answers within you. Because many of us were raised to ignore body sensations, feelings, and emotions, we spend a lot of time in our heads.

Your mind is a wonderful thing, but if you’re unaware of what your body has to say, you may be missing out on a lot of information.

My coaching work with clients incorporates the mind, body and spirit. I help you access your truth, which opens up your world!

You have the answers to your life, not your coach.

When you feel better, you do better.

Somatic Life Coaching helps you feel better so you can do better in your life and so much more!

My name is Katie McClain.

I’m a certified Somatic Life Coach. I’ve trained at the master coaching level, having studied with Landmark Education, The Life Coach School, Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute, and The Foundation for Human Enrichment.

I have over 20 years of experience coaching in organizations and with individuals.

When you work with me as your coach, you’ll learn useful tools and open up to new perspectives. We’ll also work with your feelings, emotions, and body sensations – this is the somatic part of the work we will do.

I’ll guide you to connect with and understand your body’s signals.

I’ll teach you how to ride the waves of sensations that you experience and teach you how to take action with the support of particular feelings.

I can’t express how important this aspect of the coaching is and how positively it will impact your life.

You will learn much more than how to work with your feelings and sensations and all of it will end up helping you get in touch with your spirit. You’ll feel a lot better about yourself and your life in general, your job, your relationships with others, and your relationship with yourself.

Somatic Life Coaching helps you drop the drama!

Here are some of the benefits you can gain from Somatic Life Coaching.

  • Feel better and understand how to manage unwanted feelings.
  • Act in the way that supports you in reaching your desires.
  • You’ll see results in the specific area that you choose when we start work together.
  • Improved self-awareness.
  • Increased self-kindness and kindness towards others.
  • Happier relationships.
  • Ease.
  • Joy.

And, unexpected bonus results in other areas of your life – all because of the time and care you took for yourself with me as your coach!

People who have coached with me often report an improvement in their overall well-being and find they have better results in areas that surprised them!

We call this “results in other areas”. In other words, people often take what they learn in their area of focus and naturally apply it to other areas of their lives. Sometimes the results you achieve in other areas can seem almost magical!

I do not give advice.

I help you to access your own wisdom so you can take the steps best suited for YOU in YOUR life. Although I don’t give advice, I do share experiences and stories in order to help ‘jog’ your creativity in ways that will help you reach your own goals.

Coaching is a partnership between coach and client.

Working with a coach will not magically change your life, but if you integrate the learning and do the work, it may feel like magic!

I teach specific tools that are simple, but take some practice to integrate into your life.

I may give homework, this depends on each client and what you are working on.

Any homework I give is for you. It’s not an invitation to beat yourself up because you didn’t do it. The homework is designed specifically for you.

You will never be “in trouble” with me if you don’t do the homework I assign.

Coaching is not therapy.

The main focus of coaching is to work on your present and or future. The only time we may talk about your past is when it can be instructive in helping you improve your present and future.

People love working with me.

I am a kind, fun, and intuitive coach! That being said, I may not be the right fit as your coach. If I’m not a fit for you and you would like recommendations, let me know via email. I’m happy to refer you to other professionals.

Who do I coach?

I coach parents (typically moms) and their kids, age 9 and up. If you are a parent wanting coaching for your child, I will coach both you and your child. I do not coach children without also coaching one of the child’s parents.

I also work with educators, step-parents, and other adults who work with children. I coach in school settings with school faculty and in classrooms.

Where/how does this coaching happen?

In person at my home office or via Skype or FaceTime.

Coaching is much more effective when we can see each other. I have a lot of technical experience and expertise and can help you set up Skype or FaceTime options.

In person coaching is offered in the Pasadena area of Los Angeles.

If you aren’t local to Pasadena, we will work over Skype or FaceTime: Skype is a free app for your computer.FaceTime is a free app for your iPhone or Mac.

Both of these programs access the camera on your device to connect us during the session. With Skype, there are no call fees. With FaceTime, if you have a wifi connection, there are no fees.

We will work with the video turned on so we can see each other.

How do I get started with coaching?

First, we will have a complimentary consultation.

In this session, you (and possibly your child) will discuss your goals and you may receive actual coaching from me. The focus of the session is to discern if you and I are a good fit to work together.

You’ll have the opportunity to answer questions and if we both agree to move forward with coaching, I will send you links to pay for and schedule your sessions.
