Permission To:

Feel.
Say NO.
Take a break. (it’s not working)
Let go. (it’s clear it will never work)
Love unconditionally.
Set boundaries. (with love for you & them)
Accept where you are. (you are perfect right now…and right now…and right now…and…)
Laugh. (a lot, at yourself, and at whatever is funny to you)
Play. (do you still play?, it’s more than you think it is)
Rest. (it can wait until tomorrow)
Work hard. (when you love what you are doing, you will)
Love your work. (if you hate it, find a way to love it)
Join in.
Feel.
Stop. (hiding, fixing everyone & yourself, doing things you don’t want to do…)
Ask for help.
Change.
Forgive yourself. (…you’re still perfect)
Believe in yourself.
Get angry.
Love your spare tire. (or any extra skin you may have)
Try something new. (and apply what you learn)
Try something new. (then chuck it if it doesn’t feel good)
Learn what feels good.
ALWAYS do what feels good.
Feel. (find a way to allow your feelings)
Stop the addiction. (learning to feel will help with this)
Break all the rules.
Make your own rules.
Give yourself permission.
JUST BE YOU.

What a powerful list . . . I could feel myself breathing easier as I read through it! I am not sure what I let go of, but after reading it my shoulders were less tense and I was more relaxed. Gosh, I am going to bookmark this for future use!

    1. Katie says:

Yay Mindy! I’m so glad it helped. I’m sure I’ll be re-reading this post many times as well.

  2. Dana Boyle says:

Love it! And I did notice you said FEEL three times…important one. That’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?

    Thanks for the permission! ;)

    1. Katie says:

Good eye Dana. I intentionally put that in there 3 times, because it is SO important to FEEL! You’re welcome!

  3. Blaze says:

Today I awoke to the utter joy and happiness of release.
A release that I was awaiting.
    Not that it was over-due.
Actually, it was right on time.
Not that the time was important, the feeling of release was.
It’s honoring, respecting, and giving myself permission to rejoice in the release.

    Ahhhh.

    1. Katie says:

Love this Blaze. And so poetic!

  4. Marybeth says:

    a wonderful list… thanks, Katie!

      You are welcome Marybeth!

  5. Sally says:

Permission. For all you want to do and don’t want to do… to feel into it and test, try, trust. All beautifully articulated. I love the end in particular… it reminds me of my freshman year at school when we were given a buttons in school colors that said “Be You” (my school was BU).

    1. Katie says:

      Ha, love that Sally!

  6. An says:

Love this, Katie! Definitely gonna give myself permission to try lots of new things, to fail big time, to do more of what works for me and chuck the rest. Aaah, love the sound of that :)

    1. Katie says:

Ohh, FAIL. I missed that one. Thanks for adding that An!

  7. Lin E says:

Katie… I love when you tell me what to do. ;)

    1. Katie says:

Lin- Hee hee, if only. :)

  8. Perfect! I think we all need this permission slip now and again. :-)

    1. Katie says:

Joanna, use it as often as you’d like. :) Thanks for reading!

  9. Yvette says:

What a wonderful post! Give yourself permission to “feel” so needed. We are so busy with our everyday life that we forget to “feel” – powerful. Thanks Katie.

Thanks for reading Yvette. I forget to feel a little too often, so it’s a great reminder for me!

  10. Debra Smouse says:

    What a fabulous list!

I give myself permission to be honest. ;-)

    1. Katie says:

Honesty, of course! Another one I missed. Permission to be honest with ourselves is a great one. Thanks Debra!
