Safe & Sound Protocol

Safe & Sound Protocol

What is the SSP?

Developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, the Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP), is a five-day auditory intervention designed to reduce stress and auditory sensitivity while enhancing social engagement and resilience. Based on Dr. Porges’ Polyvagal Theory, by calming the physiological and emotional state, the door is opened for improved communication and more successful therapy.

As a certified SSP Practitioner and certified Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, I am specially trained to provide the delivery of this protocol to individuals of various ages.

The SSP is a research-based therapy showing significant results in just five days in the following areas:

  • Anxiety and trauma related challenges
  • Social and emotional difficulties
  • Stressors that impact social engagement
  • Inattention
  • Auditory sensitivities

The SSP can be received by adults, children, and adolescents.

Info on how SSP is delivered:

The SSP is available Monday – Friday**.

The listening sessions are delivered in person in my office in the Pasadena area of Los Angeles. You or your child will wear headphones while listening to specially adapted popular music for 1 hour per day. In some cases, we may slowly work up to an hour of listening time.

**The protocol consists of 5 consecutive days of listening to specialized music for 1 hour each day.**

Day 1:  90 minutes to 2 hours for initial paperwork and first listening session.

Days 2-4: Allow between 75-90 minutes. One hour of this is the listening session.

Fee: $575 for 5 days of the intervention plus initial intake.
